My husband and I cannot provide enough praise about our experience with Elvira at S&L. With less than 8 weeks, Elvira designed a memorable trip that emphasized birding for me along with beach and adventure for my husband. Elvira handled all of the bookings, logistics including adding an extra tour during our trip that I requested via WhatsApp. Elvira’s experience and relationships within the industry were evident. Elvira suggested top quality accommodations and guides including expert birding guides at each of our locations. We stayed at Birds Eye View Lodge, Black Rock Lodge and Ramon’s. Our driver/guide Mr. Lecelle as he is known, is a celebrity in the tourism industry as well as the President of the Belize Audubon Society. People stopped to talk to him when they saw his van parked at lunch! We knew we were in good hands. Elvira was able to book our entire trip vial email and WhatsApp. We highly recommend booking with S&L. for a worry free fantastic trip!
Thank you Mr. Lascelle Tillett

We are incredibly appreciative of the friendly, punctual and amazing service. It started with a greeting at the airport and transfer to our hotel. Then we had an amazing day trip to Tikal. The day was perfect. Tickets, crossing the border, local guides, and a great driver just made the day perfect.
Thank you so much for a great first trip to Belize!

S&L Travel & Tours
S & L travel created an amazing adventure for us in Belize! Elvira did a wonderful job combining quite a few requests for our stay. Every guide and driver was great ! They all had a deep knowledge of Belize, it’s history, culture, and natural wonders. Each place that we stayed had it’s own wonderful ambiance with great staff.
I could not imagine a better experience and would highly recommend S & L travel to anyone travelling to Belize! We can’t wait to go back!
Thank you again Elvira!

We enjoyed our visit to
We enjoyed our visit to Belize and our foray into Guatemala to see Tikal. We much appreciated the assistance of S&L Travel and Tours. Our trip met our expectations in terms of desired itinerary, pleasant hotel accommodations and high quality guides and drivers. Our guides and drivers were pleasant and informative. They were accommodating and made us feel safe and welcome. We much enjoyed our visits to Mayan archaeological sites and also liked our visit to the Belize Zoo. We found the lunches provided to us during the course of our travels to be tasty and more than enough to fill us up. All the logistics of our trip worked out well. We had a balance of seeing the sights and having relax time. We offer our thanks to E&L for assisting us to have a great trip to Central America.

Belize is beautiful and we enjoyed every minute of our 11 day trip. I’m not sure what was my favorite part: Lamania, Caracol, Rio on Pools, Tikal, Jaguar Paw or Placencia because each stop and tour offered something amazing and breathtaking!
When it came time to leave we were actually sad because with as much as we did, I felt that I was not finished enjoying the country. I hope to return one day and when I do, I’ll reach out to you again for your expertise.
Thank you also to Lascelle for driving us around as much as you did. It was nice meeting you and Sarita. Also, I want to comment on how great each of the tour guides were. I wish I could remember each of their names because they all deserve recognition but I can only recall Phillip, who took us to Caracol and Rio on Pools, and Santiago, who was most entertaining on our horseback riding adventure. Just wanted to make sure you knew that each one was helpful, welcoming, informative and very polite.
Cheers…
Hi Elvira,
I hope you had nice vacations!
I got a feedback from customers Grötzinger. They were having wonderful vacations in Belize.
First of all they said that Lascelle was an amazing and very lovely guide who was keen to fulfill their expectations and showed them lots of things. The hotels were good, especially Windy Hill and the lodge in Tikal. The guide in Tikal was very good and spoke English clearly which was very important to them. They also liked the driver very much.
Mr Grötzinger mentioned that Yaxhá was very beautiful and that he thinks we should include it more often in our itineraries.
What they did not like very much was their stay on Ambergris Caye. Mr Groetzinger says that the island equals a big dump… Moreover loads of seagrass was on the beach and in the sea everyday that it was nearly impossible to go for a swim. Perhaps we should keep that in mind for future customers. The Hotel Banyan Bay however was good, especially their suite.
Overall he gave me a very good feedback and I want to thank you for the great organisation!
Regards,
My family and I had the opportunity to visit Belize and schedule a shore excursion with S & L Tours. What a great pleasure – the van was comfortable and nicely air conditioned. The guide and driver were very knowledgeable and friendly and the tour was a great experience. The tour was of the Xunantunich ruins near the Guatemalan border. Great time and well worth the money. The lunch was a hit too. Thank you very much for m making the day a great success.
Hello Nayla,
I just wanted to thank you, Mr. Blair and your company for an excellent job with our tour to Altun Ha yesterday. If I ever need services again I will surely select/recommend your company.
Regards,
Lascelle, I hope you are well. My wife, Barb, thought she saw you guiding Prince Harry up the Xunantcnich ruins. Was that you?
The students continue to speak highly of you. They really appreciated not only your knowledge but the personable way you interacted with them. They loved the trip and your caring manner. We have a few photos that we will be sending you.
Thank you for everything
Hello Sarita,
You provided a wonderful start to our holiday!
Chaa Creek was amazing and Jo was a great guide….so informative and entertaining!
We also enjoyed the fishing on Ambergris and managed to catch some bonefish!
Should have come back to Belize years ago;it has become a great place for a holiday.
Kind regards
Lascelle:
We just returned from a relaxing week at the Villas at Banyan Bay in San Pedro, where we snorkeled and dived.
I want you to know how much we enjoyed Belize under your guidance. The birding was especially thrilling, being with you, Ivar Marchand, and Ernesto Saqui from Cockscomb. Please let Elvira know that we particularly appreciated the work she did on our itinerary.
Were you able to see the snow geese again when you went back to the fish farm? We saw another American oyster catcher alongside the runway went we took off from Belize Municipal. You should let Ivar know.
If you ever come to Texas, please look us up. We would love to have you and Sarita stay with us for a few days.
Dear Lina, Sarita and Lascelle:
We wanted to write everyone at S and L travel to thank them for making our trip to Belize so amazing. We all had a fantastic time.
Everything worked out so very well. Your advice was excellent and the coordination between all the different parts of our trip and the transportation back and forth was incredibly smooth.
We have told all our friends so I hope they contact you in the future and we hope to plan another trip soon.
All the best.
Lascelle,
Jus a quick thank you to you for your company and birding skills on my recent visit to your wonderful Belize, final bird list was 288 species of those I had 188 lifers! Also I got to see the birds I most wanted Jabirus on a boat trip from San Pedro to Lamanai, a pair on a nest just before getting to Lamanai , what a stunning site they are. Give my regards to your family and all the best for the coming year, hope you had a good exams, all the best.
Hello Sarita and Lascelle
We are now home in a very wet and windy London after having had a wonderful holiday in Belize.
We just wanted to thank you for the way in which you resolved the problems with our bookings when we arrived in Belize City on 29 December. Your kind, calm and efficient manners immediately set us at ease and we had every confidence that you would sort everything out.
You’ll be pleased to know that the rest of our holiday wnet without a hitch and we had a fantastic time. Belize is a very beautiful place, we have very fond memories and can’t wait to come back and explore more of the country. We’ll let you know when we’re returning.
Meanwhile, perhaps we’ll see you in London one day – it’s not snowing yet!!!
Best wishes
Hello,
Just wanted to say hello and to thank you again for all your gracious assistance during our recent trip to your country. We were very much appreciated your personal attention and high level of professionalism. We have told our travel agent and Abercrombie & Kent (A & K) about your outstanding service and have recommended you to a few friends who are considering trip to Belize during the next year.
We have been looking at our pictures which remind us of the drive through the area where the roads were under water, of the people who continued to smile, although, they lost many of their possessions, of the beautiful jungle lodges (Chan Chich & Chaa Creek) we were able to experience and of our Belize City tour with you.
We also wanted to tell you that we truly enjoyed our time on Ambergris Caye and our stay at the Victoria House despite the fact that we were the first guests at the Victoria House since the storm hit. Everyone was very nice to us and worked to make the best of the situation. While the pool & restaurant remained closed and the beach and grounds were being restored, our Windsor Suite was wonderful and the food service in the bar was great. We had the unusual opportunity to watch a talented group of craftsman weave new roofs on the cabanas, watch another fellow climb the tall palm trees (crazy) to remove the broken palm fronds from the top of the trees and, in general, observe the overall restoration of a lovely resort. While we couldn’t go sailing, we did go fishing with a great guide and caught our lunch and dinner, much fun.
Lascelle and Sarita…again, our thanks to you and your staff for helping to make our trip a memorable experience. We hope to visit with you again one day.
Best regards,
Dear S & L Travel
I have today received a lovely e-mail from Mr & Mrs DeRycke regarding their stay in Belize. I would just like to echo their comments and thank Lascelle very much for taking such good care of my clients. It is these sort of personal touches that our clients want and expect from their holiday booked with us.
Hope to be in touch soon with more business.

Dear Suzanne,
We have just returned from our two week holiday in Belize and Guatemala, which was arranged via yourselves. We would just like to tell you that everything went absolutely perfectly. There were no problems at all, the accommodations were exactly as we expected (if not better), and all arrangements went as planned.
We really enjoyed ourselves and had a splendid time – please accept our sincere thanks for everything you did in helping us plan and book the trip. We would particularly like to tell you how impressed we were with your correspondent agents in Belize, S&L Travel.
Lascelle Tillett, the co-owner, looked after us personally including driving us on our two-night, three day excursion to Tikal in Guatemala, even though his wife was away at the time and he had to keep in contact with his office by phone to deal with any questions or issues which may have arisen in his absence. His attention was well beyond the strict call of duty. He gave us excellent advice on how to stay healthy, he made sure we got the best guide to the ruins of Tikal, and even checked personally that our room in the hotel there was OK and adequately supplied with towels.
His concern or our comfort and convenience was outstanding (to the point that he fretted mightily when there was an unexpected delay at the Guatemalan border in case we were annoyed or upset – the Guatemalans had invented a new regulation the previous week and not told anyone about it, which was something he had not control over – and as it happened, this provided us with an excellent opportunity for people watching which to us was an added bonus!). Lascelle was a terrific companion our travels and contributed a great deal to the quality and enjoyment of our holiday. Once again, please accept our thanks for helping us have a really terrific holiday.
Regards,
Hi, Nayla
Wanted to thank you for the really fine service we received thru your organization. I’ve forgotten Mrs. Tillett’s first name, but she and Lascelle were very conscientious – prompt, pleasant and helpful. The van was clean and roomy – and cool! The guide down at Tikal (Miguel) was excellent. Everyone learned a lot about the flora & fauna as well as the Mayans.
There were a few minor problems around dining at the Jungle Lodge. We wanted to tip a little more than 10% added to the bill but no one could break any Guatemalan bills. You might suggest to people who make that trip that they carry tip-size denominations. We wanted to tip the women who cleaned our rooms, but nobody could break 100 quetzal bill – nobody! People might also want to know that they can’t order ANYTHING from the menu. We couldn’t get the soups we wanted but had to accept the soup that came with the pre-paid meal. That sort of thing; not a big deal.
It was a great trip. Thanks for your help, Nayla.
Lascelle,
Thank you so much for making this my best vacation ever. You have been so good to us and your kindness is appreciated. 118 species so far and it’s only Wednesday (2 days to go). I’ll never forget the Pheasant Cuckoo and how much fun we had figuring out what it was. I cannot imagine a more wonderful guide than you. Thank you for everything. I will e-mail final bird list to you (and a few pictures)! I don’t think I’ll ever figure out how to say Prothonotary. Anyway, good luck and best wishes to you and your lovely wife (and the ladies at your office). Let Marcy & I know if you’re ever coming to the Seattle area and we’ll show you the sights (and the birds).
Sincerely,
Hey,
I have returned from my travels! Back to the school classroom for me.
But, I wanted to THANK YOU and your daughter Frances for helping me get out of Belize and visit Tikal. You may recall I was solo traveler that you talked into spending at least two nights in Tikal
I took your advice and it was a high point of my trip to Belize! The next time I head “south” I will spend more time in Guatemala.
The Mundo Maya employees were nothing but extremely helpful in helping the “tourist” on their bus and thereafter, on my return trip to Belize, while being told I could take a 7:00 am bus from Tikal to Flores then Belize, at Flores I was told I missed the one per-day bus into Belize.
The Mundo Maya employees at the Flores station were quite helpful and supportive of arranging me transportation, even though I did not want to spend the money on another “taxi” or spend the night in Flores. However, one of their employees drove me to the “local” bus station and I was able to get to El Melchor. The trip was one of the highlights of my entire visit!
Keep up the good work!
Hi,
I just wanted to send you a quick note to let you know we were very happy with the tour you provided last week when we were in Belize. The driver and our tour guide Eddie were absolutely wonderful and very knowledgeable. They definitely know what customer satisfaction is about and made us feel very comfortable and happy. This is especially important when you are traveling with 2 very small children and with grandparents. They made us feel great and we are very pleased with your services. I will definitely recommend you to our friends. You are very professional but at the same time very warm.
Thanks again for making our visit to Belize such a wonderful one, we were very lucky to have found you.
Thanks,
Lascelle,
Becky and I are back in Pittsburgh. Our return trip was uneventful, since Becky felt much better during the day than she had the night before we left.
We greatly enjoyed our visit to Belize, in large part due to your help and preparations. We provided some feedback to Ged, including several of the ideas we had discussed about keeping the Belize zoo in the schedule while improving the lodging related to the zoo visit. I expect that we will be back to Belize in the future—if only to do the snorkeling that the weather prevented. In the meantime, we will recommend you and Ged to any friends that are interested in Belize.
Remember, if you and your wife are ever going to be near Pittsburgh, we would enjoy having you visit and stay with us—and visit the National Aviary.
Thanks,
Dear Elvira, Sarita and Lascelle,
Just a short note to say how much we all enjoyed Belize, and to thank you so much for the detailed and flawless travel arrangements you made for us.
Diving and snorkelling around South Water Caye were terrific, and on the entire trip, birding was spectacular. At Crooked Tree Sally and I saw our first ever Agami Heron – in breeding plumage no less – and we also had nice views of the Jabiru family on the way in to Lamanai. Chan Chich was a great way to end our travels, true luxuary, great birding (an Ornate Hawk-eagle watched us birding from the suspension bridge for over an hour)….and the best food of all. All told we observed 215 species, including many great close-up views of your colorful national bird, the Keel-billed Toucan.
Once again, thank you so much, you have a wonderful country and we really enjoyed our visit.
Sincerely,
Hello Lascelle,
We are both back home safe and sound and the early migrants are starting to pass through, I saw my first European Swallow yesterday. I thought that I would pass on some information about San Pedro on Ambergris Caye. The two hotels next door and just to the north of the Banyan Bay Resort, i.e. Xanadu and Caribbean Villas both have small nature trails with look-outs and bird-feeders that proved to be excellent for birds like Orioles and Warblers. Also, it would be worth mentioning to future birders to bring their driving licenses with them so that they can hire golf carts/buggies to get around the island.
I ended up seeing a substantial total of 191 species in 2 weeks plus lots of photos. Not bad for a first visit! So thanks for helping to organise a superb holiday and we may see you at the Bird Fair??
Best wishes,
Don & Chris Gunn
P.S. Keen birders may need 1 extra night at Crooked Tree and 1 less at Ambergris Caye.
Hi S&L,
I just wanted to say thank-you for a beautifully organized trip. My husband and I have been back for a week now and are finding it hard to adequately describe what a wonderful country you have. I wanted to say a special thank-you to Julio, Russell, Lucho, Edwardo and Roy. They were all very professional, informative and fun to be with; I hope you can find some way to say thank-you to them all from us. The hotels you chose for us were great and were excellent and I have already recommended some of them as well as your services to other people. Once again a big thank-you.
Best wishes,
Dear Mr. Tillett:
We would like to take this opportunity to personally thank you for the warm and kind hospitality extended to the recent visit of the ESPN/Canon Photo Safari Group to Belize from July 20, 1999. Your kind assistance and generosity helped to make their visit a great success.
We would also like to share that the ESPN/Canon Group have expressed their complete satisfaction with our tourism product and services provided by your establishtment and more importantly by yourself as their guide. Final copies of the Photo Safari will be mailed to you upon completion. The program is scheduled to air in the first weeks for October on Saturdays ant 9:00 am Eastern Standard Time. Subsequent re-runs of the program are scheduled for November and January 2000.
Once more we would like to thank you for your support and we hope to continue to work towards increasing awareness or our beautiful country’s natural, archaeological and cultural tourism attractions.
